How We Verify Listings
Every company on GreaseTrapFinder goes through the same screening before it appears in our directory. This page explains exactly what "verified" means here — and what it doesn't.
What we check
- The business is real and operating. Each listing is sourced from public business records and active business profiles, not user submissions or purchased marketing lists.
- The phone number works. Listings must have a reachable business phone line. Listings with dead or missing contact information are removed or excluded from search results.
- They actually service grease traps. We confirm the company offers grease trap pumping, cleaning, or related FOG services — not just general plumbing.
- Location and service area. Each company is mapped to the city and state pages where it genuinely operates.
- No duplicates. We de-duplicate aggressively so the same operator doesn't appear under multiple names.
- Ratings come from real customers. Star ratings shown on listings reflect public customer reviews of that business. We don't write, edit, or sell ratings.
What verification is not
- It is not for sale. Companies cannot buy verified status. Paid plans (Priority, Premium, Featured) affect where a listing appears on the page — never whether it's marked verified.
- It is not an endorsement. We don't guarantee any company's work quality, pricing, or insurance coverage.
- It is not a license check. Waste-hauler licensing is regulated state by state. Before hiring, ask the company for its hauler license or permit number and confirm it with your state environmental agency — and always get a signed manifest with every cleaning. Our state compliance guide lists the regulator for each state.
